Plenty of Leeds United fans have reacted with disappointment online after hearing loaned-out player Mateusz Bogusz has suffered an ACL injury.

Last summer, before the season started, the midfielder was sent to Spain to spend the upcoming campaign with La Liga 2 side UD Ibiza.

By January, however, it looks as though his loan spell has been forced into a premature end, with the club recently revealing Bogusz will require surgery on the serious injury.

Journalist Phil Hay later confirmed on Twitter that the fitness issue is set to end the 20-year-old’s season. After seeing the update appear online, a number of supporters were quick to vent their frustration.

Here’s what these Leeds fans had to say…

“Fantastic, even injured when out on loan. Our payroll is cursed.”
“This has got to be a curse on the club even loan players getting affected now.”

@philway1

“Noo I’d hope he’d come back and play. End of that then.”
“Damn, gutted for him.”

@Allassar2

“Good grief, even our loanees are getting injured!”
“That is just awful.”

With seven assists and four goals in 20 league appearances, it’s fair to say Bogusz was making a pretty good impression at Ibiza during his loan. So it’s a real shame to see his development in Spain cut short so swiftly.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

Considering Leeds’ own injury concerns this season – which have seen them miss key players like Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips for certain periods – it’s easy to understand why these fans just feel as though their club can’t catch a break.

Hopefully, Bogusz’s surgery goes well and the long-term impact of the injury will not be too much of a hindrance to his career.
