Leeds United fans have been reacting to news that has been relayed by journalist Phil Hay regarding Diego Llorente and his place in the side.

Llorente has been a pretty prominent member of the Leeds side so far this season, starting 14 of their games so far in the league – a rather impressive accomplishment when you consider the injury issues that the side have gone through so far this season.

However, having picked up a booking in their 3-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League this past weekend, he’s set for a short spell out of the team.

Which comedian supports the Whites?

As pointed out by Hay on Twitter, that yellow card now means that Llorente has picked up five for the season so far, and as a result will be handed a one-game suspension for their next game in the Premier League, a potentially tricky tie away to West Ham United.

The news left many Leeds fans furious, mainly at the referee as they felt the challenge didn’t warrant a yellow card in the first place:

“Also, Llorente shouldn’t have been booked for being fouled. Terrible referee.”

“Koch/Llorente combo was nice. I look forward to never seeing it again.”
“Roberts that’s good for us. Llorente we should appeal disgraceful decision”
“Llorente’s yellow for having his shirt pulled and being fouled himself was pathetic refereeing”
“That Llorente booking and freekick for their goal was scandalous, Cornet fouled him”
“That’s a shame cause I like that Koch and Llorente pairing in the middle (right footed or not).”

Is Diego Llorente Leeds best defender?

Llorente currently ranks in the top five for the team in blocks, clearances and interceptions so far this season whilst averaging 50 passes a game (via WhoScored), so he’s pretty important to how Leeds set up. Hopefully, they won’t miss him too much in their next game as they look to push further away from the bottom of the league.
