Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential successor to Marcelo Bielsa at the end of the season.

It’s fair to say that the Argentinian has done a remarkable job at Elland Road so far during his stint in England.

However, the combination of his age, 66, the fact that Leeds haven’t had the best opening half of the campaign as they sit 16th in the table and his contract only being for one year – making it easier to get rid of him in the summer – means that a successor may not be too far away.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

And according to reports in Spain, one possible successor could be Diego Martinez, the former Granada and Osasuna manager.

The report claims Martinez has been living in England recently “to soak up the football in that country” whilst noting that “Martinez does not move from England and everything indicates that next season he will take over a squad” – with Leeds United reportedly high on his list.

This news was picked up by MOT Leeds News and then relayed onto the Leeds Insider Facebook page, where there were some rather positive responses over the idea of him taking over from Bielsa:

It looks like Martinez is gathering some fans already, although if he’s appointed, he’s got a long way to go to reach the level of love with the fans that Bielsa enjoys at the moment.
