Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed on his YouTube channel that a late move from Leeds United for defender Calvin Ramsay before the 11pm transfer deadline could still be on the cards.

Reports have emerged recently suggested the West Yorkshire side are one of the clubs showing an interest in the youngster this month, but face a race against time to seal a deal.

It has been claimed Watford and Bologna are two of the sides showing an interest in the 18-year-old, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side are at the front of the queue to sign him.

The right-back has played 14 times in the Scottish Premiership for Aberdeen this season, but was sidelined for eight league games as a result of a hamstring injury (via Transfermarkt).

With Cody Drameh having left on loan for the remainder of the season, Taylor had the following to say on a possible late swoop for the Scottish right-back:

“Leeds have made an offer. It’s not [a] sort of immediate ‘let’s get him through the door’ [type of offer], but for the club’s long-term vision, Ramsay is really an attractive option. He’s been really impressive with Aberdeen, his defensive stats are sort of unbelievable, really, for a young prospect.

“Bologna have also made a bid, I think £4.8m, but it’s sort of a loan with an option to buy – a total package of just under £5m. I think Leeds have come in just a bit lower than that, about £3m. So one to keep an eye on, I would be surprised if it happened.”

TIF Thoughts on Ramsay to Leeds…

Leeds have struggled massively at the back this season with the third-most goals conceded in the Premier League so far, with only Newcastle United and Norwich City conceding more.

And given the club’s injury issues this season, new arrivals will surely be appreciated by Bielsa as they face a battle against the drop.

However, we think the fans will have hoped to see some new faces through the door already by now, with the Whites still yet to open their account in the January window.
