Leeds United writer Conor McGilligan has claimed that he expects bids for star players Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.

With the January transfer market open, there are plenty of rumours flying about regarding possible deals that could soon happen – and it seems some of Leeds’ players are in demand.

Over in Spain, for instance, there have been claims that Phillips is wanted by Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp a big fan of the midfielder.

It is not the first time a Leeds ace has been linked with a move to the Reds in recent times. Indeed, Raphinha has also been subject to past speculation and could well be on the Reds’ transfer list.

With that in mind, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel on YouTube, McGilligan explained that he thinks there is a ‘high percentage chance’ that the Merseyside club made a bid for either one (or both) of the players at some point in the future.

He said: “Do I think that a bid will come in for Kalvin Phillips from Liverpool? I think there’s a high percentage chance of it, yeah.

“But I think there’s also a high percentage chance of them putting a bid in for Raphinha. And what we know with Liverpool is they have to sell to buy.”

TIF Thoughts on Raphinha, Kalvin Phillips and Leeds…

In his two Premier League campaigns, Raphinha has proven himself to be one of Leeds’ key players. Laat season, he played in 30 of the club’s 38 games, scoring eight times. This term, he could yet beat that record, having already netted six times.

While Phillips has not been able to prove his quality quite as regularly this season with a hamstring injury halting his momentum of late, his importance in the England team over the summer goes some way to outline his true potential.

Considering all that, it’s not hard to see why Liverpool could be interested in the pair. If they do end up making bids, as McGilligan predicts, Leeds fans will surely be hoping to see their side turn those offers down.
