Many Leeds United fans have been left angered after seeing their club is close to sealing a move for Espanyol man Mateo Joseph Fernandez.

According to Sky Sports News journalist Tim Thornton, the young striker is currently undergoing a medical in West Yorkshire – and with the January transfer market now open, of course, it looks as if the deal could be completed fairly quickly.

Thornton tweeted the information to his many online followers, and it didn’t take long before supporters on social media were reacting to the news.

Here’s what these Leeds fans had to say…

“Great just what we need, another u23!”
“Another u23 that won’t ever play for us cos bielsa never trusts the youth”
“Another U23’s signing  just what we need in a relegation scrap”
“Need first team players not more under 23s”
“Can we get a few for the first team now”
“Clearly we can sign players its just Bielsa being awkward as he is”

Considering Fernandez has yet to play a game for the senior Espanyol team, it looks as if this move has been made with an eye towards the future as opposed to him making an immediate impact in the coming months. It should also be added that the attacker only turned 18 years old last October.
