Sky Sports commentator Rob Palmer has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about what Everton fans can expect from new signing Vitaliy Mykolenko.

Everton have already secured two new signings in the January transfer window with a pair of full-backs on opposite flanks joining the Toffees. Mykolenko joined from Dynamo Kyiv, while Nathan Patterson arrived this week from Rangers.

Will Digne leave Everton this month?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The former arrived for less money, but is significantly more experienced than Patterson and will likely come straight into the side when fit, with other left-back Lucas Digne set to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Palmer has revealed what Everton fans will be getting from Mykolenko.

“What you can expect – if he’s given time to settle in – is a player who is a front-foot full-back. I’d liken him to Andy Robertson, but I’d probably get pelters from Everton fans.

“So I’ll liken him to Kieran Tierney, who came down from Celtic, played for Arsenal. That modern-day full-back who’s more than just sitting back and defending.”

TIF Thoughts on Mykolenko…

It could be seen as a bit of a gamble from Everton to bring in someone who has only ever played in the Ukrainian league, but with him being an international at just 22 years old, that should highlight the potential Mykolenko has.

Everton were desperate for a new left-back with Rafa Benitez and Digne falling out with each other. Recently, the Spaniard named Digne on the bench against Brighton and instead opted to play 33-year-old Seamus Coleman out of position, so it’s likely that Mykolenko will have the time and opportunity to make that left-back spot his own.
