Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about potential new Everton signing Nathan Patterson.
Will Patterson be a good signing for Everton?
Everton did make an approach to sign Patterson over the summer, but given their very strict transfer budget back then, a move seemed to be too much of a stretch. However, now they look set to finally land their man, who could have a very bright future in the game.
Prior to the transfer being confirmed, O’Keeffe spoke about what he’s heard about Patterson and what he’ll bring to the Toffees.
“He’s probably had more Scotland games than he has for Rangers at the moment, but in his defence, the young man is behind the Rangers captain of getting into the team at right-back.
“When he has played for them, both country and club, he’s looked really exciting. I’ve heard great things about him from contacts in the game, his attitude is brilliant, technically he’s very good.”
TIF Thoughts on Patterson moving to Everton…
Since making his debut in the league last season under Steven Gerrard, Patterson has only managed to rack up five starts in the SPFL, however, he does have club captain James Tavernier in his desired position of right-back, whereas at Goodison Park, there will only really be 33-year-old Seamus Coleman for competition.
Patterson is just 20 years old, but considering Everton have splashed out £10m (plus add-ons) on the defender, it would be a strange move if he was now not the regular right-back at Goodison, especially when Coleman is seemingly unable to start a lot of games in a single season when looking at his appearance totals in recent campaigns.
