Dave Vitty has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how a lot of the boardroom at Everton still like Roberto Martinez.

Everton are now on the hunt for yet another manager under Farhad Moshiri’s ownership, after Rafael Benitez saw his side fall to yet another defeat at the weekend, this time to then-bottom side Norwich City.

Would Martinez improve Everton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

There appear to be some frontrunners for the vacant job at Goodison Park, with Sky Sports reporting that Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Duncan Ferguson and Roberto Martinez are all being considered for the role.

The latter is still seemingly admired by many at the club, as Vitty explained.

He said: “People in the boardroom have a certain amount of affection for Roberto Martinez. It would sum up the madness of the club to go back to the first manager that Moshiri sacked. It would almost like be, you know, squaring the circle and almost confirming the lunacy of the last few years.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton potentially wanting Roberto Martinez…

It would be a sensationally bizarre move for Everton and Moshiri if they were to run back to Martinez essentially with their tails between their legs, having sacked him back in 2016 after a poor run of results and performances that saw Toffees fans turn on the manager, much like they did on Benitez recently.

Also, it would surely be a very difficult deal to get done given that it’s a World Cup year and Belgium are gearing up towards that tournament, setting their sights high on winning it as their golden generation starts to hit its twilight years.
