Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has been speaking on Good Morning Transfers about Crystal Palace’s search for a new striker.

Palace had a stunning summer transfer window, with new manager Patrick Vieira arriving and helping the club attract players such as Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi and Odsonne Edouard, all of whom have featured heavily this campaign.

Who would be better for Crystal Palace?

Mateta!

Nketiah!

Nketiah!

However, instead of being content with their season so far, which has them sat just outside of the top 10, they’re reportedly interested in adding more firepower despite having netted more league goals than three of the teams above them.

Indeed, Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah appears to be someone of interest and Bridge discussed where Palace are in their pursuit of the Gunners ace.

He said: “Would Patrick Vieira like maybe one or two more? Yes. We know there’s interest in Eddie Nketiah – that hasn’t really progressed since last week, but I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Palace didn’t do any business this month.”

TIF Thoughts on Crystal Palace wanting Eddie Nketiah…

22-year old Nketiah has had a frustrating season at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta having not started a league match, and with his contract set to expire in the summer and having refused to sign a new deal, his future is totally in his hands.

Nketiah may well wish to see out the remainder of this season and see where a team like Palace end up finishing, and whether the Eagles can maintain their performance levels and results under Vieira with the club surely willing to take him on board despite his lack of top-flight goals – especially when Christian Benteke is out of contract next summer and is also being linked with a mid-season switch himself.

However, it seems that Palace may well elect to keep what they have this winter, so Nketiah could be staying put for the time being, at least.
