TalkSport reporter Alex Crook has been discussing Crystal Palace and a possible move for Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato back in October, Crystal Palace were showing an interest in bringing him back to the Premier League, even willing to match the wages that he gets from his current side Juventus.

A recent report appeared to hint that the Eagles were ‘among the frontrunners’ to bag the Welshman’s signature during the January transfer window after Juventus pretty much confirmed that his time at the club was up with Massimiliano Allegri being quoted as saying that he is ‘an outgoing player’.

However speaking on TalkSport, Crook was quick to dismiss the idea, suggesting that people he had spoken to about the deal were pretty adamant that the Welshman would not be coming to Selhurst Park, although Crook did hint at the end that there was plenty of time for things to change:

“Aaron Ramsey’s an interesting one.

“I did chase up a potential line regarding him and Crystal Palace a couple of days ago and they were pretty quick, my sources there, to distance themselves from a move for Aaron Ramsey, so that looks unlikely. But listen, it’s only January the 7th, isn’t it? Things can change.”

Whilst Patrick Vieira seemed pretty hesitant when it came to talking about a possible move during his recent press conference, claiming “at the moment I am happy with the squad we have”, as Crook hints at, there’s plenty of time left in the window for things to change.

But a move for someone like Ramsey would certainly be an odd move for Crystal Palace to make, because it goes completely against what they have been trying to create under Vieira by focusing on younger players, and with Ramsey being 31, he does not fit that profile.

Not only that, but given Ramsey’s pretty notorious record when it comes to injuries, bringing him in would be a pretty risky move, especially if they were willing to match his wages, which stand at a reported £400k per week.
