Sky Sports presenter Joe Thomlinson has given his thoughts on the possibility of Aston Villa signing Yves Bissouma this January transfer window.
Steven Gerrard’s men have certainly been productive in the early days of the transfer window. Not only have they managed to seal the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, but they also look to be well on the way to completing the signing of Lucas Digne from Everton.
But they don’t look to be stopping there, as it looks as if Gerrard is looking to make moves all over the pitch, and according to the latest reports, they have turned their attention to the 25-year-old Brighton midfielder as well.
Averaging 3.6 tackles per game, 1.9 interceptions, 1.9 clearances as well as an 88.8% pass completion rate (via WhoScored), it’s easy to see why Villa would be looking at him, especially as he ranks higher than any midfielder in the Villa side who has played significant minutes this season in all of those departments.
However, Thomlinson doesn’t seem too convinced that the move will take place.
Will Aston Villa spend big in January?
Yes
No
Taking to Twitter in response to a Villa fan who mentioned the possibility of Bissouma coming to the club, Thomlinson expressed his doubts when it came to Villa being able to sign him, although he did praise the ambition of the club for their moves so far in the window:
Can’t see that one happening, but rate the ambition.

There is still plenty of time to go in the window, so there might still be time for Aston Villa to make that move, and given what they have done so far, you can’t necessarily rule it out from becoming a possibility.
