Dean Jones has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about Arsenal’s interest in Dusan Vlahovic.

It seems clear that Arsenal are going to be on the hunt for a new striker either this transfer window or in the summer given that their ex-captain and top scorer in the league from two of the last three seasons, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is being frozen out of the first team for disciplinary reasons and is also currently at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Do Arsenal have a chance at Vlahovic?

Someone who they have been credited with an interest in is Serie A sensation Vlahovic, and although he would reportedly cost them £85 million according to Goal, that could be worth it if that meant they got him this month before a lot more clubs become interested over the summer if the striker continues his great form of the first half of this campaign.

Jones believes that this interest in Vlahovic is very real.

He said: “I think Arsenal are very serious about this, they’ve been exploring it just to see how they can jump the queue in this window. There wasn’t a strong feeling at the beginning of January that Vlahovic would move right now, I think that Fiorentina would cash in right now because they’ll get more money, but from Vlahovic’s point of view, he has to be totally convinced of the project.”

TIF Thoughts on Arsenal wanting Vlahovic…

If Arsenal are going to be looking for a striker, then potentially someone such as Vlahovic could be the smartest move given how much attention could be on the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer.

There’s no surprise that the Gunners are interested in Vlahovic, given he netted 21 goals last season and already has 16 in Serie A this time around, but with that kind of output, they may not be alone, and some reports have already suggested that the striker isn’t interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium – but if they can finish in the top four, that could potentially change his mind.
