Arsenal writer Charles Watts has claimed that Eddie Nketiah could still ‘potentially’ leave this January as there is interest in him.

The future of the young striker has been under speculation for some time now, with his contract set to expire next summer.

While speaking about the player on his YouTube channel, Watts explained that a move in January might be more ‘difficult’ as Nketiah may want to hold out until the end of the season – so he can move for free and potentially receive a higher wage and signing-on bonus.

However, despite that, the journalist said a move could still happen as there is interest in the striker from clubs like Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

He said: “It’s gonna be very difficult for Arsenal to move Nketiah on – if they actually want to do that this month.

“But Crystal Palace, there is interest there from them. They tried to sign him in the summer, didn’t get him. But the interest is still there, so it’s something that could potentially happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Eddie Nketiah and Arsenal…

Despite this claim, speaking in a recent press conference, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta did suggest that the player will remain with the Gunners this month, saying: “The situation is that Eddie is our player and he’s going to stay here with us.”

Of course, though, if Crystal Palace – or any other sides – really do want to sign the striker, they could come in with an offer too good to refuse.

Should Arsenal try to sell Eddie Nketiah this winter?

Yes

Yes

No

No

After all, with Arteta set to lose his man for nothing as things stand, he may want to cash in on Nketiah while he can. They may also need the money, especially with Arsenal’s reported interest in Dusan Vlahovic heating up in recent days – which might be a deal that ends up costing them over £70m.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming weeks before the transfer market closes.
