A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have been left angered after seeing their club linked with a move for defender Liam Kitching.

Indeed, as reported in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (via West Brom News), the Baggies are interested in signing the Barnsley man. However, the same story also claims that the 22-year-old’s current side will try to resist any offers that do come in.

Current boss Valerien Ismael was obviously with the Tykes before switching teams in the summer, and it seems as though his new set of fans are not so happy to be linked with one of their manager’s former players.

The story was shared on Twitter by WBA Report and it quickly drew a response from many supporters.

Here’s what these WBA fans had to say…

“Seriously is this what our board are allowing????? Here Val lad come to the Albion for 4 years however the deal is if you need any players at all you can only go to Barnsley for them is that ok?? Inept absolute inept scouting system.”
“Might as well buy Barnsley at this point.”
“Surely we should be preparing Val’s P45 not letting buy any more players.”
“Val’s ‘project’ is to make us his 20/21 Barnsley team ain’t it. #wba.”
“Do not need defenders. He needs a midfielder better than Livermore. Thing is, we have a class attack(now we do with Dike) but the midfield is always invisible and creates next to nothing. I’d take Krov, Rek, field all back in a heartbeat. we miss creativity.”
“Does anyone else feel a bit of Deja vu when a certain Mr Buckley thought be could improve the Albion by buying lots of Grimsby players. If this report is true I think he may need to go before we end up in terminal decline. Expensive to get rid of but could cost the club more.”

Should West Brom sign Liam Kitching?

Judging from these comments, it’s clear to see how unhappy these fans are to be linked with Kitching. One of the key issues seems to be the fact that they simply aren’t happy to possibly sign another former Barnsley player.

In the summer, Alex Mowatt made that move, while Daryl Dike had also previously worked with Ismael at the same club before signing for West Brom this January.

If a deal is completed, the Baggies boss could come under some strong scrutiny from his own supporters.
