A large amount of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest claim to emerge regarding the future of Steven Bergwijn.

According to Dan Kilpatrick, the 24-year-old winger is going to be given the opportunity under Antonio Conte to revive his career with the Lilywhites by potentially featuring as a striker.

Would you like to see Bergwijn play as a No.9?

The Dutchman has had a tricky start to life in north London which has been summed up by his lack of action this season through his injury issues.

Having missed the game against NS Mura last week through illness, Bergwijn was unable to return on the weekend as Spurs’ game against Burnley was postponed due to the snow.

What did these fans have to say?

“Hahahahahahahhahahahahaha we’re dusted a striker with 3 goals in 47 games”

“Is Conte serious”
“Just threw up in my mouth a little”
“From Vlahovic to not to spend a penny and just convert a LW to striker who barely scored? The typical Levy is back lads, thought we were ambitious when we appointed Conte… guess I was optimistic”
“CONTE OUTTTT”
“Yeah we’re finished”
“Crazy. Son’s record as striker is impeccable compared to the rest except Kane and most clinical shooter. Berjwijn can’t hit a barn from 2 feet. Current PL season…ZERO goals. Previous 2 seasons total of 4 league goals.”

A report from De Telegraaf (via Football Oranje) emerged recently suggesting Bergwijn has caught the attention of the Eredivisie giants, Ajax, who will look at the option to take the winger on loan in January.

And it seems these fans would prefer to see Bergwijn exit the club in January and it’s hardly a surprise when the Dutchman has scored just four goals in his 60 Spurs appearances.

If Kane is being sold, we will need two class strikers and Levy won’t want to pay for two. Cheap way round his dilemma. Great for Levy bad for the club.
