A large number of Newcastle United fans have flooded to Twitter to share their frustrations on the latest claim to emerge from Callum Wilson.

The Toon have made a terrible start to the 20221/22 campaign and currently find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League table and still without a win to their name.

Should Bruce have been sacked earlier?

And according to the Magpies’ striker, Callum Wilson, it seems the team may not have arrived at the start of the season in an ideal condition under former manager Steve Bruce.

“I’d say first game of the season, we weren’t fit enough in terms of being ready for a Premier League fixture as opposed to just lads going through the motions the week before,” Wilson said on The Footballer’s Football Podcast (via The Chronicle).

And Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter as the striker’s claims were relayed and they shared their frustrations towards their former manager.

What did these fans have to say?

“This is no surprise at all. Just a by-product of the awful coaching from Bruce and his staff.”

“Brucey effect”
“Damning, again”
“We all could see it but wow!”
“A damning version of the previous manager and his band of coaches. Shameful that he let the players get like this.”
“Confirms what many of us suspected”
“This is where you separate Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce. Mike Ashley didn’t invest but Steve Bruce didn’t care, he was in a financial win-win. The combination has done the damage.”

Bruce was sacked last month following their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and a number of games on the Toon still find themselves in search of their first three points after their latest draw against Norwich City.

With the Toon have now changed manager due to their shocking start to the campaign, it is apparent there is still some blunt feelings among these Newcastle fans towards Bruce.
