Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss Kieran Trippier’s potential move to Newcastle United.
The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid next month and the Magpies have emerged as one of the leading candidates to swoop up the 31-year-old.

A big January lies ahead of the Tyneside club as they look to bolster their squad with Eddie Howe’s side staring directly in the face of relegation.
Trippier joined the Spanish side back in 2019 and it is claimed he is looking for a return to England having joined Atleti from Tottenham Hotspur.
With Manchester United previously showing interest in the right-back during the summer, Romano had the following to say on the potential of Trippier moving to Tyneside:
(2:00) “And with Trippier, who was one of the names who potentially had the chance to replace him [Diogo Dalot] with [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer as the manager – now close to Newcastle. It’s not yet a done deal but Newcastle want Kieran Trippier. At the moment Man United are focused on Dalot as right-back also with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka in the team”
TIF Thoughts on Trippier to NUFC…
Over the course of the last three games in the Premier League, Howe’s side have conceded 11 goals which has made them the side with the most goals conceded (41) this season.
We think this would be a big coup for the Magpies if they were able to bring in a player of Trippier’s calibre and experience given the situation they are in and where they want to be in the future.
However, we are also convinced Trippier alone would not be enough to rectify the issues Newcastle have in defence and we would be concerned if they were unable to improve their options at centre-back with Ciaran Clark’s recent showings leaving a lot to be desired.
