Following Leeds United’s heavy defeat on Tuesday night, a number of fans have flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on a transfer claim to emerge after the game.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side suffered an injury blow to midfielder Jamie Shackleton at the Etihad Stadium forcing the 22-year-old off before the half-time break.

However, despite the latest injury setback, Bielsa claimed his transfer plans would not be changed, leaving BBC reporter Adam Pope to share the manager’s remarks.

“There is nobody preparing them for such a succession of injuries that’s happened. It’s also important to leave clear, what I have said about this subject previously, the capacity for an institution to fortify their squad has a limit due to their budget,” said the 66-year-old.

And Leeds fans flocked to Pope’s post-match tweet as they shared their frustrations on Bielsa’s transfer claim as the Whites sit just five points above safety with a matter of weeks before the January window opens.

What did these Leeds fans have to say?

“Well we might as well just announce relegation now”

“This is senseless. I just don’t understand how he can’t see that when we miss one or two players we move the whole team we fall apart at the seams”
“Oh my”
“This is criminal. Unacceptable.”
“Insane”
“His times up sadly”
“He’s taking us down”
“Might aswell relegate us now.”

The injury to Shackleton will come as a concern to the Leeds fans as their midfield depth is put to the test with Kalvin Phillips expected to be sidelined for a number of months.

With Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich the only two fit holding midfielders in the Leeds side, it is clear to see why these fans are so frustrated especially as they sit perilously close to the relegation zone.
