Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Jack Pitt-Brooke has been speaking on the latest episode of The View From The Lane podcast to discuss the future of Harry Winks.

The 25-year-old midfielder has had a tricky couple of seasons in north London with his game time saying a major decline as the club chop and change their managers over recent years.

Does Winks deserve another chance?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Winks was able to record 90 minutes of action under Antonio Conte just the other week in their 2-1 victory over Leeds United, but that opportunity did arise due to Oliver Skipp’s suspension.

Reports have emerged in recent weeks suggesting the Spurs midfielder could be heading for the exit doors in January with Newcastle United tipped as a potential landing spot following their recent takeover.

However, discussing what he feels lies ahead for the Hemel Hempstead-born midfielder, Pitt-Brooke had the following to say on his future with Spurs:

(22:00) “If you’d asked me a month or two ago I’d have said I would expect Winks to maybe follow him [Dele Alli] but I think Winks has impressed Conte so far in training.

“He’s obviously started the Leeds game and come on a few times and done well and is generally thought to be doing pretty well around the club at the moment. And would like to ideally stay and fight for his place. So my expectation is that Winks will definitely stay this January.”

TIF Thoughts on Winks’ future…

We think this could be Winks’ last opportunity to prove himself as a worth at Spurs having failed to do so with the previous selection of Spurs managers.

Since signing for Spurs, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has played every minute of Premier League action and Oliver Skipp has slotted straight back into the side following his loan spell last season.

With Winks’ opportunities, therefore, limited to the availability of others, we think the 25-year-old should really consider whether he would be better of elsewhere with Everton and Aston Villa previously linked.
