A whole host of Sunderland fans on Twitter have blasted the club following their latest update.

The Black Cats are currently right in the thick of a promotion race, but they only have two home games across all competitions remaining in 2021, with one of them coming on Saturday against Plymouth Argyle, which could prove to be difficult for them having to be on the road a lot.

Will Sunderland earn promotion this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Sunderland have been racking up some impressive attendances this season, especially for League One, with a lot of their games attracting over 30,000 people, but from 30th December, any fans wanting to attend their home matches will require to show a vaccine passport or a negative test.

This appears to have angered a lot of fans, and this could be down to the fact that this will likely add a lot of time onto their matchday experience and may have to leave home, work or friends earlier to get into the ground.

A lot of Sunderland fans on Twitter have been left annoyed by this latest update.

What have these Sunderland fans been saying?

“Furious about this and in two minds if il be going”

@StandersSouth

“Actually gonna have to get to the ground at 1 to stand a chance of getting in”

@_harrymcbeth

“Criminal for attendances, especially for smaller clubs who rely on ticket money. Horror show”

@EJH____

“Our attendances are gonna plummet aren’t they”

@joehay_

“Club is even silly going ahead with this, what a joke”

@RCawley01

“It’s not the club’s fault they have to go by the rules like every other club, but it’s a joke”

@cameronflaws

This could be a huge blow for Sunderland’s promotion push if their attendances do drop off, as they can act as a 12th man a lot of the time, because no other club in England’s third tier comes close to them in terms of average attendances.
