Sunderland fans have been reacting to the performance of Alex Pritchard during their recent game in League One.

The two sides came into the game with differing levels of preparedness, with the Black Cats coming off the back of a 3-0 win on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday hadn’t played a game for a couple of weeks after a series of health issues involving themselves and their opponents ensured their games couldn’t be played.

And it looked as if the regular games had helped Lee Johnson’s men as they ran out comfortable winners, storming into a 3-0 lead at half-time before ultimately cruising through to three points and moving to the top of the table.

This current PL centre-back almost signed for Sunderland back in 2015.

Part of the success was down to the efforts of 28-year-old Pritchard in midfield, as he provided the assist for the second goal, completed 80% of his passes whilst also making a tackle and an interception (stats from WhoScored), and it led to a number of fans fawning over him on social media before he was replaced just after the hour mark:

“The Lads on fire Ross Stewart with a Brace Great interception and ball through for the goal from Pritchard”

“Pritchard is the best player in L1 unbelievable”
“Alex Pritchard needs a statue… today! Class!”
“That’s a great finish from the big man. Pritchard excellent assist”
“Alex Pritchard fully fit is more important than Mcgeady. Absolute baller”
“Alex Pritchard is different gravy in this league”
