Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to a stat that has emerged from journalist George Smith about the current side.
Darren Moore’s team, having been relegated from the Championship last season, have had a reasonable start to life in League One, as they currently sit in 8th place in the division, just two points away from the play-off spots.
Part of that has been down to the unbeaten run that they have been on, which has seen them not lose a league game since their defeat away to Oxford United, which was back on 2nd October.
Now, as a result of Rotherham United’s loss to Accrington Stanley, which saw their 21-game unbeaten run come to an end, the Owls now own, according to Smith on Twitter, the longest unbeaten run in the top four tiers of English football, with their record standing at 12.
This generated a number of interesting responses from supporters when they saw it on Twitter, some of whom were happy to see it, whilst others felt that mentioning it might not have been the smartest thing to do:
“Cue certain defeat at Sunderland”
Will Sheffield Wednesday be promoted?
Yes!
No!
It should be noted that the majority of the games (seven) have been draws, so you could argue that it isn’t as impressive a record as it could be, but it’s still something impressive to have on their resume, and hopefully they can start turning them into wins soon enough.
