In the week that saw him claim his maiden Celtic trophy, Ange Postecoglou’s comments are winning the fans over to his side even more so than before.

After a shoddy draw at St. Mirren, the manager’s comments helped keep fans onside when he revealed the plans during the winter break.

He claimed that there would be no warm-weather training camp and the squad would remain in Scotland – something that didn’t happen under Neil Lennon during his final campaign.

Will Celtic sign any players for the J League this January?

In the height of a global pandemic, Neil Lennon took his Celtic side to Dubai, just like Brendan Rodgers had done in previous years. However, in a pandemic, players being pictured drinking beer and breaking the social distancing rules didn’t go down well.

As a result, it is no surprise how Celtic fans responded to Postecoglou’s words.

How the Celtic fans reacted…

“Lennon would never.”

@GMCD67

“Correct decision, no need to fly to Dubai for training and pints by the pool. Points before pints.”

@Andytimtim2

“Ange says what Lenny should have last year!!”

@SwissCelts1888

“Said like a true professional manager.”

@dacardle

“Wish Lennon had said this last season.”

@Davidtu16699681

“Common sense prevails.”

@MartinMcGuire91

It’s clear to see how happy the Celtic fans are about the news, especially when last season, Christopher Jullien’s positive test meant chaos ensued at Celtic Park after the trip.

Celtic fans will be hoping the change in plans will change their fortunes. Postecoglou has seen his side struggle to keep pace with Rangers, falling six points behind the runaway leaders. The three Old Firm meetings left this campaign may well be decisive in the outcome of the title given Rangers have lost just once all season.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

It’s down to Celtic to take the points off them themselves if they have any chance of closing the gap.
