Many Celtic fans have offered up praise to manager Ange Postecoglou after he spoke out in defence of striker Kyogo Furuhashi.

In recent times, the Japanese forward has come under heavy scrutiny for a perceived tendency to go to ground a little too easily in the eyes of many.

One such person was former referee Keith Hackett, who claimed in an interview with Football Insider that Kyogo should be given a fine by the Scottish FA if he continues with his theatrics.

Clyde 1 Superscoreboard posted footage of Postecoglou addressing the matter in a press conference, where he said: “Kyogo’s the size of a jockey, he’s playing against guys almost a foot taller than him and all these brave warriors on the outside are casting aspersions.”

Kyogo certainly has drawn a fair amount of criticism for his on-field antics of late. But when he’s scoring for the Bhoys as often as he is – with 14 goals so far this season – it’s no surprise that the fans and manager alike want him to be protected from such scrutiny.
