Many Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight after being linked with a move for Spurs ace Dilan Markanday as Ange Postecoglou seeks to strengthen his squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

Spurs are keen to keep the 20-year-old and extend his contract beyond this summer, but the player is said to be keen on first-team exposure and is willing to consider his future away from north London.

Now, according to the Evening Standard, the Hoops are eyeing a January loan move for Markanday, while also suggesting that their Old Firm rivals, as well as alongside several Championship clubs including West Bromwich Albion, QPR and Bournemouth, are also keeping tabs on the talented youngster.

Fans reacted on Twitter to the latest reports.

With 11 goals and four assists in 12 games for Spurs’ U23s this season (via Transfermarkt), Markanday has earned his admirers in the first team at Spurs, making his debut in the Europa Conference League earlier this year.

Markanday could prove to be a useful asset if Postecoglou is able to lure him to Parkhead this January, and would compete with the likes of Jota, Albian Ajeti, Liel Abada, James Forrest and Kyogo Furuhashi for a place within the Australian’s first-choice XI as they seek to reclaim the Scottish title from arch-rivals Rangers this campaign.
