Celtic fans have been reacting to comments that have emerged regarding James Forrest and his time at the club.
The 30-year-old Forrest has certainly been productive during his time at Celtic Park. Having come through the academy setup, he has gone on to bag 96 goals and 97 assists for the club since his debut back in the 2009/10 season.
However, his numbers could have been all the more impressive were it not for the sheer number of injuries that he has managed to pick up during that time, that surely would have seen him reach triple digits in both categories by now if it weren’t for the time he’s spent on the injury table.
He has recently picked up yet another injury, and speaking in an interview with Football Insider, injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site, claims that Forrest might not be back up to 100% fitness until next season “Maybe he can fight fires this season, but a full pre-season would bring him up to speed. Until recent concerns, he hasn’t been injury prone. He seems to have just been unfortunate and is now struggling to build fitness in the middle of the season.”
These comments were relayed to supporters on the Celtic Insider Facebook page for them to react to, where it generated some interesting responses, with many of them furious with the 30-year-old for how rarely he has been available recently:
Is James Forrest underrated?
With his contract set to expire in 2023, you wonder if Celtic will even be the ones who will have to try and get him fit next summer, or if they’ll sell him and leave it to somebody else to sort out.
