Celtic fans have been reacting to news surrounding the club and the hierarchy after an announcement was made by the club.
There has certainly been a lot of movement behind the scenes at Celtic Park this season. It was announced back in January that Peter Lawwell would step down from his role as chief executive at the end of the 2020/21 season, and whilst he was replaced by Dom McKay, he only lasted two months in the role before stepping down for personal reasons.
The club have now revealed that Michael Nicholson will take on the role of CEO having worked in an acting role since McKay’s departure, and in the release, Celtic chairman Ian Bankier stated the appointment brought ‘important continuity’.
The news was relayed to the fans on social media, where there didn’t seem to be a lot of joy amongst the supporters, with many claiming that it wasn’t much of a change if it was an internal hire rather than bringing in someone from outside:
“Cheers, Christmas is ruined.”
Will Ange lead Celtic to the league this season?
Yes
No
Having had a disastrous season in 2020/21, the club look to be making progress and have already won the season’s first bit of silverware, so things haven’t totally been bad under Nicholson’s watch – but it will be interesting to see if that continues now that he’s in the role full-time.
