Celtic fans have flocked to claims from a journalist surrounding their potential swoop for Japanese footballer Daizen Maeda.
Given the success of Kyogo Furuhashi since his arrival at the club, as well as Ange Postecoglou’s time in Japan, it was no surprise to see that the club would be willing to venture to the Far East once again for another player to sign.
A report from The Times back in October claimed that Maeda, who Postecoglou has managed before in the J League, was a name that the club were ‘confident’ in signing, and now it appears as though their confidence was well placed.
Following multiple reports in Japan, journalist Dan Orlowitz believes the deal to bring Maeda to Celtic Park is ‘done’. He explained on Twitter that various outlets had stated that Maeda is expected to join Celtic on loan “with a €2m purchase option to be exercised this summer”.
The news was picked up by Celtic fans on Twitter, and it’s fair to say that they were rather excited to see that the deal was is in the process of being completed:
“Yes lovely news”
Will Ange lead Celtic to the league this season?
Yes
No
If Maeda can have the sort of impact that Kyogo has managed to have in Glasgow, then this will go down as a pretty significant coup by Postecoglou and the club.
