A whole host of Celtic fans were delighted on Twitter to see their club being linked with a move for Albert Gudmundsson.
Ange Postecoglou has been making strides this season in turning Celtic into title contenders after surrendering their crown last year, but the gap may still be too much to close in one season, with the Bhoys currently six points behind top spot heading into the new year.
Will Celtic win the league?
However, looking ahead to next season already, Celtic are planning to push Rangers even further, with the Bhoys reportedly holding an interest in Iceland international Gudmundsson and eyeing up a pre-contract agreement with him, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.
A lot of Celtic fans have reacted positively on Twitter to this transfer claim.
What have these Celtic fans been saying?
“great shout, let’s hope we can get him. he would cause a lot of problems for our opposition”
“Would be a great signing”
“This would be pretty mad considering his great grandfather played for rangers”
“Shrewd bit of business. Regular International, experience in the Eredivisie as well as Europe. Would be great if it was for free”
“Guy was brilliant when he played us in the second leg worth a punt”
“The Patrick berg replacement may have been found”
Some Celtic fans may already be familiar with Gudmundsson, as the 24-year old winger featured against the Bhoys during their Europa League qualifier against AZ Alkmaar, but he failed to register a goal or assist in either of the legs during Celtic’s 3-2 aggregate victory.
