Wolves journalist Liam Keen has provided his thoughts on the availability of Daniel Podence for their upcoming game in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old Portuguese playmaker has been unavailable for Wolves these past two games as it was revealed ahead of their clash with Norwich City that he had to self-isolate and stay away from the team whilst he recovers.

Podence joined a long list of Wolves players who are currently unavailable for selection, with the likes of Willy Boly, Jonny, Pedro Neto and Yerson Mosquera all out with a variety of injuries, forcing Bruno Lage to really stretch his squad to the limit, with his most recent teamsheet against Burnley featuring two goalkeepers and a few academy players on the bench.

In what position did Wolves finish in these seasons? Starting off with 2020/21

Speaking on the Express and Star YouTube channel after that 0-0 draw at home to the Clarets, Keen provided the latest details surrounding his absence, but was unable to confirm at this stage whether or not he would definitely be in contention to play in their game this upcoming weekend at home to Liverpool.

He said: “Daniel Podence hopefully will be back if they get the isolation done in time, I need to check with Wolves on that. That one’s touch and go.”

Do you think Podence will have a big season next year?

No

Wolves will surely be hoping for Podence to be able to return this weekend given the crisis that they are going through when it comes to players to choose from.

And whilst Podence might not be the most productive player for Wolves, with just six goals and seven assists during his time at the club so far, given the situation they are in, just being available for selection is the most important thing right now, and if he’s able to contribute something for them on the pitch, then all the better.

Because given that they are facing Liverpool, a team who are in serious form with four wins in their last four and 14 goals scored, they are going to need all the help that they can get if they are to avoid being on the wrong end of a thrashing similar to what Jürgen Klopp’s men have handed out recently.
