Joe Thomlinson has been speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel about which area of the West Ham United squad needs to be improved.

The Hammers have been in scintillating form this campaign both in the Premier League, where they find themselves in the top four, and also the Europa League, but the last few weeks have been testing for West Ham as both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna have sustained injuries.

Can West Ham win the Europa League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

This now leaves David Moyes with Issa Diop and Craig Dawson as the only two senior options at centre-back, but given the club have recently seen Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky buy a stake in the club, they could well be able to make a splurge in the transfer market and address their defensive injury woes.

Thomlinson believes that if a centre-back is signed, West Ham could win the Europa League.

“West Ham have a really unique knack this season of, no matter who they’re playing, just being able to muddy the game up and press them in the right areas, and Moyes seems to be getting better and better production out of that frontline.

“So I think if they can get a centre-back in, in January, that is of the right level, because obviously, Kurt Zouma’s torn his hamstring tendon and Ogbonna’s done his ACL, if they can get a centre-back in that’s the right level, they could win it.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham United…

The Hammers will certainly be backing themselves to go far in the competition if they can keep up this form as their only defeat came against Dinamo Zagreb in the final round of fixtures when Moyes decided to rest a whole load of players.

An area of the pitch where they may have had a worry heading into the second was striker given they only have Michail Antonio in that position and he has a poor record of injuries, however, the striker has managed to stay fit all campaign, so Moyes may keep his faith in Antonio and look to strengthen an area which has been decimated by injuries recently.
