West Ham United presenter Gonzo has been speaking on the Hammers Chat YouTube channel to discuss potential transfer targets for the January window.

The Hammers have been hit with a couple of injury blows in defence recently, with both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna sustaining injuries which will see them both sidelined for a considerable period of time.

One of the names discussed as a potential option for January was Joe Rodon from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, with the Welshman suffering from a lack of opportunities in the Spurs side.

It has been claimed Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion are both interested in the 24-year-old centre-back ahead of next month’s window.

With the Hammers previously thought to be interested in landing the Welshman, Gonzo had the following to say on a potential January swoop for the £9m-rated defender.

“I bigged him up a lot, I really liked him at Swansea. He’s got everything. I think he has got everything that a centre-half needs.

“I think he’s fast, he’s big, he’s strong and he’s commanding in the air; very, very quick, two-footed. I mean, if you remember, he was linked with Manchester City and I totally got that he was linked with Man City. Maybe they signed [Nathan] Ake instead, which is ironic, comes full circle [as] we’re linked with Ake as well.

“But for all the reasons I don’t think Ake would be attractive to David Moyes, I think Rodon would be attractive to David Moyes. And we were interested in him before, no doubt about it at all.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodon to West Ham…

Rodon has really struggled since arriving in north London to nail down a spot in the starting XI on a regular basis, with just 20 appearances across all competitions with the Lilywhites.

However, the elephant in the room will be West Ham doing business with their rivals, with the two sides currently separated by just two points.

With other clubs said to be interested in the 24-year-old, we find it incredibly difficult to picture a scene where Spurs allow one of their players to leave for the Hammers as they battle it out for a spot in the top four.
