A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted with joy and relief after hearing that their club will not be signing Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

With the German’s contract set to run out at the end of the season, his future has been subject to much speculation. One club to be linked with a move for him were Spurs.

However, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are ‘not in the race’ for the centre-back’s signature.

He shared this information with his many Twitter followers online and it quickly caught the eye of the Spurs fanbase.

Here’s what these Tottenham fans said…

“Spurs dodged a bullet.”
“YESSSSSSSSS.”
“Beautiful, couple of reasons why were not 1. Its Chelsea wouldn’t do business with a rival 2. Levy wouldn’t pay the wages he wanted even if he did want to sign for us 3. I’m glad were not in the running.”
“He’s a trouble maker. Don’t want him, also to expensive as usual”
“SIUUU.”
“Great news.”

Well, there’s no denying it – these fans were really just not keen on Rudiger joining their team at all.

Interestingly enough, the German defender made headlines this past weekend for the role he played in helping Chelsea’s attack score goals against Leeds, as opposed to any defensive work.

Indeed, he actually became the first player since March 2010 to win two penalties in one game. Although this is a great feat, his suitors will likely be more focused on the work he does at the other end of the field if they are to sign him.
