Well-respected Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss the club’s possible legal action against UEFA.

The north London club were eliminated from the Europa Conference League earlier in the month as a result of their postponed game against Rennes, which was due to be the final game of the group stages.

Are you happy Spurs are out of the ECL?

With Spurs dumped out of the third-string European competition, it will leave Antonio Conte with fewer games to contend with after the turn of the year.

However, from a financial perspective, it will leave Spurs without the gate receipts, merchandise sales and food and beverage revenue that would arrive on a matchday.

And with this in mind, Gold had the following to say on when Spurs fans could expect to hear about whether the north Londoners will be pursuing further action:

“If Spurs are out of Europe, I don’t think they’ve kind of really decided yet whether they’re going to appeal that UEFA decision yet. I think we’re going to find out on that in the next few days.”

TIF Thoughts on Tottenham’s Europa Conference League exit…

We feel the decision to eliminate Spurs from the competition was an extremely harsh one from UEFA given the north Londoners were reportedly very keen to get the game rearranged and even willing to play in France.

However, Spurs still would have had to beat Rennes with Vitesse winning their game against NS Mura in their final group stage game, so that could well influence their decision-making when it comes to appealing.

Either way, Spurs remain out of the competition, and although it is one less trophy Conte can aim for, we are sure – given the build-up of Premier League games – the Lilywhites will welcome fewer games to play after the turn of the year.
