Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the latest claim to emerge regarding the future of Matt Doherty.

According to Calciomercato, the right-wing-back could be set for a January departure, with former manager Jose Mourinho reportedly interested in bringing Doherty to Roma.

The report also suggests, as per asromalive.it, the Lilywhites value the Irishman at €12m (£10.1m), and with Fabio Paratici having a great relationship with Doherty’s agent, Jorge Mendes, they’re optimistic a deal can be reached.

Despite having only signed for the north London side back in the summer of 2020, these fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the rumour.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“Don’t tease me.”

“Dont give me hope”
“Today keeps getting better and better”
“Yes please Jose”
“Best thing Jose did for spurs if it’s true”
“Oh you beauty.”
“Cant believe that even through I want to, Jose didnt pick him in main games so why would he buy him now”
“Tears in my eyes”
“Jose I’ll forgive you for signing him”
“Please please please take him”

Doherty featured under Mourinho during the 2020/21 campaign, however, he only made 15 appearances for the Portuguese manager in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

And he has featured even less so far this season, with just 54 minutes in the league to his name and as he still searches for his first Spurs goal, it seems these fans have seen enough of the 29-year-old.

The way I see it, Conte is a football genius but if he could make Doherty a good player, I would consider becoming a pro footballer too. Failing that? Yes please, sell him to anyone who wants him!
