Speaking on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the future of Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur.

It was a tricky summer for the England captain, with the 28-year-old at the centre of the transfer speculation across the Premier League as a potential move to Manchester City was mooted.

Do you want Kane to sign a new deal?

Yes

Yes

No

No

And it has not been smooth sailing upon his return to the pitch, with just two goals to his name in the Premier League this season in his 14 appearances so far.

Under Antonio Conte, the talisman has shown some promising signs of returning to form with a goal in Tottenham’s draw at the weekend against title-chasing Liverpool.

And speaking on the influence Conte has had on Kane since arriving at Hotspur Way, Romano shared details on a talk the pair had upon the Italian’s arrival:

“I want to say that Harry Kane, now with Antonio Conte, is super happy, he’s super happy.”

“A lot of rumours, but I don’t see him leaving in January – let’s see what happens in the summer. But the relationship with Conte is very good, they feel each other as important for the future of the project.

“So Harry Kane knows that if Tottenham will be back for Champions League football, Antonio Conte is the man to do it. And Harry Kane knows that now with this manager, this is the plan for Tottenham: to win and to be back in Champions League football.

“And Antonio Conte loves Harry Kane, as he always says in public and he told him in private many times, ‘you will be my striker’. So this is the message from Conte and he wants Kane to stay for the future.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s future…

We agree with Romano in the sense that a potential January move for Kane feels unlikely purely on the basis of the figure Spurs would expect to receive for their striker.

However, we are interested to see how his situation develops ahead of the summer window given the striker will turn 29 in July, which could well put teams off, with youngsters Erling Haaland and Dusan Vlahovic potentially available.

If this was to be the case and some of Kane’s potential suitors were to look elsewhere, the striker would have two years remaining on his deal come the summer, so could he look to sign a new deal with Spurs?
