Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the future of Harry Kane.

The England captain was the summer’s big transfer story with the 28-year-old reportedly wishing to leave the north London club for a move to the Premier League champions.

After a summer of speculation, Kane had his struggles in finding his form in the league under Nuno Espirito Santo, however, the arrival of Antonio Conte has seen the talisman show signs of his regular high standards.

Conte’s arrival at Hotspur Way has reportedly boosted the morale of the vice-captain at Spurs, however, Gold has suggested a new contract may not be a dead cert just because the Lilywhites now have a top-class manager in charge.

With just over two years remaining on Kane’s £200k-per-week deal with Spurs, Gold had the following to say on what he had heard from Kane’s camp:

“From everything I understand, which is speaking to people from within his camp and also speaking to people in the club, there hasn’t been any kind of talks as of yet for that to happen.

“I get the impression from Kane’s side that while he’s really excited about Conte and while he thinks this is a big show of ambition for the club to have got him, there’s a little feeling of, ‘well, let’s now see whether they back him or not’. I get the impression that that’s the feeling there.”

TIF Thoughts on Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur…

According to reports, Manchester City held a strong interest in Kane over the summer, but going into the new year, Pep Guardiola’s men sit eight points clear at the top of the table and are one of the clubs being linked with Dusan Vlahovic.

Chelsea added Romelu Lukaku to their options in the summer and Liverpool’s front three of Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could well be the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheet.

With Manchester United struggling and sitting two points adrift of Spurs, we are not too sure whether there will be much interest in Kane come January or even the summer.

With this in mind, we would be interested to see if the striker evaluates his options and feels the best thing for him to do is to sign a new and improved deal with Tottenham.
