A whole host of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted negatively on Twitter as claims on the club’s transfer approach has emerged.

Tottenham were active in the summer transfer window, which saw Fabio Paratici help former manager Nuno Espirito Santo bring in players such as Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal.

With Spurs struggling for consistency this season, though, the January transfer window may see them once again look to bring in new recruits, especially now that centre-back Romero is out until at least the new year.

Will Spurs finish in the top four?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

There could now be a change of approach when it comes to identifying targets, with new boss Antonio Conte and Paratici working together to build the Tottenham squad together, while Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed (via Football Daily) that they will look to bring in top young players and thus, players such as Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic, who they have been linked with, would be seen as too old.

A lot of Spurs fans on Twitter weren’t happy after footage of Di Marzio making this claim surfaced online.

What have these Tottenham fans been saying?

“This has been our plan for last five years, it hasn’t worked. This club does not have a clue.”

@grhumphrey

“We may aswell say goodbye to Conte now. You don’t win trophies with young players. You need experience and leaders to help you achieve.”

@TheMattRains

“So apparently we’ll never learn that buying cheap young players won’t help us ever win anything.”

@dalitaryan

“No thanks. I’ve had enough of ‘promising’ young players for the ‘project’. Spurs need proven top level players that can come in & improve the team straight away. That’s what you do if you hire someone like Conte. If not, watch him walk away.”

@Dobbin591

“This is absurd. They are the same age as Sonny. One year older than Kane. If those two are too old for the project, then what are we doing with our star players? Joke.”

@GiovaniLoCelsad

“Levy and Conte not on the same hymn sheet. It’s not going to end well.”

@johnrhueston

“It’s happening.. buying youth and not winning anything”

@rcdecosta

“We have no right to be turning our noses up at players of this calibre, especially as Brozovic will be available on a free transfer in the summer”

@JoeGftbl

“And it starts again… this always ends in tears.”

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

It seems like these Tottenham fans are worried that this approach to signing players could well lead to Conte leaving the club, especially if this is not his decision and doesn’t get the signings he asks for, after reportedly being promised that he would be handed the players required.

    Walker, Modric and Bale were 3 of many cheap young players that Tottenham bought. I wonder how well they did?
