Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to news surrounding Harry Kane and Son Heung-min following news from The Guardian.

The media outlet recently released their list of the top 100 male football players in the world for the year 2021. The main honour went to Bayern Munich and Poland forward Robert Lewandowski, but there was some recognition for some of the Tottenham Hotspur squad, as Kane and Son finished 15th and 39th respectively.

Who wrote 'Hometown Glory' about their love for Spurs?

2021 was certainly a very productive year for both men, with Kane notching 26 goals and seven assists, the highest combined tally of any Englishman, whilst Son bagged 16 goals and 13 assists, the most of any South Korean in total.

There was further recognition with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ranking 100th, but when the news of Kane and Son’s rankings was relayed to Spurs fans by @HotspurRelated on Twitter, it sparked a furious backlash as fans complained about numerous aspects of the list, from where Kane and Son were ranked, to where other players appeared on the list:

“Son robbed”

“Jorginho’s 5th. Obviously a wind up”
“The disrespect Son gets is unbelievable”
“Kane behind Lukaku. Farce”
“Son being 39th is an absolute joke. The man had a cracker of a season and these put him in 39 don’t even get me started on Kane at 15th”
“Disrespected Son.”

With some claiming that Antonio Conte will have a positive effect on both Kane and Son moving forward, it will be interesting to see if he’s able to get them higher up the list when next year’s awards come around.
