Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to a claim from Fabrizio Romano surrounding the future of Dele Alli at the club.

The 25-year-old has had something of a rocky season when it comes to his time in the squad, having started the season as a regular in the league before being left out of the team, but he was given a chance in their most recent game against Liverpool, starting and playing just over 80 minutes.

His future at the club has been in doubt for some time, with reports back in January suggesting that he could have made a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain, but that move never came to fruition.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast, Romano claimed that whilst Tottenham were open to listening to proposals for Alli this past summer as well, after his performance against Liverpool, ‘for Dele Alli, the situation could be different’ – hinting that he might just be staying at the club after all.

Romano’s quote was relayed to fans by @TheSpursExpress for them to react to, where supporters didn’t seem too happy with the news, with many not on board with the idea that one game should be enough to save him:

“A Christmas nightmare”

“Shaking my head”
“And this is where we write off any chance of Conte being successful at this club. Gutted but hardly surprising is it.”
“One half decent performance may have just saved allis career here again”
“I’m all for second chances but this is one good game in three years. I plead for perspective. He’s been rotten for us. I’d still sell”
“This club will never learn”
“ONE DECENT GAME. This club is such a joke”

It certainly should be an interesting transfer to follow, especially if Alli is able to stay in the team and impress again before the window opens. Perhaps he can still be of some use to Spurs moving forward.
