Many Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustrations with the latest transfer claim to emerge regarding their goalkeeping situation.
According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, 34-year-old Spurs ‘keeper and French World Cup-winning captain Hugo Lloris could end up staying in north London this summer even if another goalkeeper arrives, mentioning Everton’s Jordan Pickford as a potential transfer target for Antonio Conte’s side.
Current Spurs No 1 Lloris is now playing into the final year of his current deal with the Lilywhites, which is set to expire at the end of June.
Will Conte win Spurs a trophy?YesNo |
However, regardless of whether Lloris opts to stay at Spurs beyond his current contract, the Lilywhites could make a move for the former Sunderland ace who, at the age of 27 years old, could be a candidate to become Spurs’ first-choice ‘keeper for the next 5-10 years in a new era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Conte.
What did these Spurs fans have to say?
“Pickford’s positioning was horrible last night”
“Not him, he couldn’t catch a cold”
“Please don’t”
“Please be a lie”
“No thanks. Awful”
Ironically, Pickford’s last Premier League clean sheet came against Spurs during the stalemate at Goodison Park in Conte’s first league game in charge of the Lilywhites in November – albeit with Spurs registering no shots on target and, judging by their reactions on Twitter, Spurs fans are strongly against the idea of making a move for Gareth Southgate’s first-choice England goalkeeper.
