Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to an update surrounding defender Cristian Romero and his current injury situation from Antonio Conte.

The Argentinian defender was one of the marquee signings for the club this past summer, signing a loan deal from Serie A side Atalanta with a view to a permanent switch as Spurs looked to sort out a defence that had been causing them problems last season.

However, his time at the club has been far from smooth, taking time to get into the team to begin with under Nuno Espirito Santo before having his season brought to a halt as a result of an injury picked up on international duty.

Speaking to the club’s media channels ahead of the clash with West Ham United in the Carabao Cup, Conte provided an update on the defender’s fitness, claiming that he appears to be on the mend. “Now, he’s starting to work, the new scan was good and, I think, in three weeks he can come back,” said the Italian.

This news was relayed to Tottenham fans by @thespursweb for them to react to, where it’s fair to say there were plenty of fans delighted to hear the news:

“We’re going on a title charge”

“Letss goooooo”
“OMG best news ever this season”
“Phenomenal news”
“We are cooking”
“Great news. I was afraid we might not see him again this season”

Have you been impressed by Romero?

Ranking in the top three for tackles, interceptions and blocks per game for Spurs this season (via WhoScored), Romero certainly has impressed since his arrival, so it’s obvious to see why fans would be delighted to have him back, let’s just hope he can make the same impact when he comes back.
