A collection of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted with dismay after hearing that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could return for the club’s Carabao Cup match against West Ham United.

This week, in the quarter-final stages of the cup competition, Spurs will host the Hammers looking to progress into the next round. It now looks as though they will have an extra man back from injury for the game.

Indeed, as reported by the Evening Standard, Hojbjerg made a return to training earlier on in the week, and as a result, he could be available for selection in the club’s next match.

This fitness update was shared online by The Spurs Express, but it was not received particularly well by the Tottenham faithful, with many making their feelings known clearly.

Here’s what these Spurs fans said…

“What deflating news after the buzz of Sunday.”
“Xmas ruined…”
“Enjoyed the fun while it lasted x.”
“LOST. WE’VE LOST.”
“Noooooo!!! Keep Winks, Skipp and Dele. So much better.”
“Hopefully not.”

The Danish midfielder last played in the club’s 3-0 home win over Norwich City. He missed the recent Premier League draw with Liverpool, while the two domestic games in between those matches were called off.

Having played in 21 games across all competitions, it’s safe to say Hojbjerg is a regular in the squad and so it seems more than likely that, if he is fit, he will be back on the pitch soon enough.

However, that has clearly not made these supporters very happy, who seem to want him out of the squad for a little while longer. Perhaps this is due to the team’s recent good performance against the Reds, which they managed in his absence.
