A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left excited after hearing their club will put forward a ‘strong proposal’ to try and convince Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger to join their club.

The German defender’s current contract is set to expire this summer and with no new deal agreed yet, in January he will be free to talk with English clubs about joining them ahead of next season.

Now, according to a report by Eurosport, the centre-back is being eyed up by Spurs as he considers all his options. The article also explains that even though manager Thomas Tuchel is ‘extremely eager’ for him to stay, sources believe it is ‘almost certain he will now leave Chelsea’.

Would you want Antonio Rudiger at Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The news was shared online by popular fan page The Spurs Web and it soon had supporters happily discussing the potential move.

Here’s what these Spurs fans said…

“Why are people saying no to this? Would be an unreal signing. Especially for free.”
“Would never happen but imagine.”
“Lillywhites: the biggest club in London attracting big players.”
“He’s currently the best lcb in the world, why are people saying no?”
“Would love him.”
“YESSSSSSS.”
“Would be amazing but I strongly doubt it”

There should certainly be no doubting Rudiger’s quality. This season, he has played in all but one of Chelsea’s 15 Premier League games and has lost just twice.

On top of that, he has won the Champions League, Europa League, and the FA Cup with the Blues. Of course, with all that experience, he will have no shortage of suitors if he does decide to leave his current side.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

So, even if Spurs are to put forward a great contract offer, there’s every chance he would reject it. Even so, that won’t stop these fans from dreaming.
