A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on a transfer claim to emerge regarding Stefan de Vrij.

According to Paolo Paganini (via Sport Witness), Antonio Conte has made it clear he would like the north London club to make a move for Inter Milan’s De Vrij.

Who would you prefer?

Milan Skriniar

The claim comes ahead of the January transfer window with Spurs also linked to the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Milan Skriniar with Conte seemingly keen on bolstering his defence.

Conte’s arrival at Spurs has seen the Lilywhites play with a back-three predominantly featuring Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Ben Davies and it seems these fans would love to see De Vrij added to the squad.

What did these fans have to say?

“Yes please, so clear of skriniar”

“de vrij is a must for conte you know”
“Daddy davies, Virgil van Dier, de vrij As back 3 then we winning the league this year”
“PLEASE”
“Do it”
“Make it happen Santa”

De Vrij has just over one season remaining on his current deal with the Serie A side, however, the journalist has claimed he is ‘not among’ the priorities for Inter in dishing out new deals.

With over 400 appearances to his name, it seems these Spurs fans feel the Dutchman can bring a new lease of experience to the Spurs defence with the likes of Cristian Romero still below the age of 25.

First off, If history is anything to go by then we are unlikely to bring anyone of note in this January, so I hope if that IS the case, everyone at the club remains focused and undeterred towards Conte’s visions and ambitions for this season.
That said, I would love to see Vlahovic as competition for Kane up front, and Frank Kessie come in if we can get him on a free!
