Lots of Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter as journalist Craig Hope has provided an update on the club’s virus outbreak.

According to the Daily Mail reporter, there have been more positive tests returned at the Toon’s training ground and any further positive tests could put their upcoming game against Southampton in serious doubt.

Do you think NUFC will stay up?

Eddie Howe’s side picked up an important point on Monday night against Manchester United, however, the celebrations were marred as a result of the injuries sustained to both Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Magpies’ trip to the south coast is the only Premier League game they have scheduled before 15th January, meaning any postponement could give the Toon time to spend in the market before playing again.

What did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“Cue the absolute meltdown of the other 19 clubs & fans which have also had fixtures cancelled!”

“Heads are gonna blow”
“we’re actually ducking ralphs gritty saints, and i must admit. Im happy.”
“More time to rebuild”
“This is absolutely brilliant just for the sheer tears and dummy spitting from the Southampton massive”
“Absolutely massive hahahahaha”
“More tears incoming”

It may have to be a busy January market for the Tyneside club, who find themselves second-bottom of the Premier League table with just one win to their name after 19 games.

But it seems these fans are hopeful a couple of weeks away from top-flight action will provide them enough time to bolster their squad before they return to action to battle to drop.
