A whole host of Newcastle United fans have reacted negatively on Twitter to Lee Ryder’s injury update on Santiago Munoz.

Newcastle sanctioned a loan deal over the summer to bring in Mexican youngster Munoz from Santos Laguna, but he’s still yet to even feature for the club’s Under-23s side due to injury and fitness problems.

Do Newcastle need a director of football?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The youngster signed an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy at the end of it, however, some may have seen this as a PR signing as his name is very similar to that of fictional footballer Santiago Munez, who plays for Newcastle in the film ‘Goal!’.

This theory could well be backed up, following Lee Ryder’s report that Munoz is set to be out until 2022, which will see him enter the new year still yet to kick a ball for the Magpies.

A lot of Newcastle fans on Twitter are very annoyed with this injury news.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“Some injury that, mind. A 6 month lay off without playing a game?”

@ToonMouthTyne

“Something isn’t right when the coach of the team “can’t specify the nature of the injury”.”

@THawks1980

“This PR signing has flopped so bad man”

@MichaelNUFC_

“Signed on loan because of his name. Thank hod Ashley’s gone.”

@nufc_miller

“Has he ever been ruled in?”

@LewisMuir

“He haven’t played how can he be injured”

@DavidTa41816701

Elliot Dickman was asked about Munoz’s absence following the club’s Under-23s’ victory in the Tyne-Wear derby, though ‘he could not specify’ the nature of the injury.

The game saw the young Magpies win 2-0 and Dylan Stephenson net a brace, taking his tally to 10 in 13 Premier League 2 fixtures, so Munoz is clearly not being missed very much.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?
