A number of Newcastle United have flocked to Twitter to voice their delight at the latest comments to emerge from their manager, Eddie Howe.

The 44-year-old was speaking ahead of their Premier League clash on Sunday and has admitted that there could be some of their senior players departing in the January window.

Do you expect big changes in January?

Yes

Yes

No

No

“I’m looking at them every day in training, and in every match, and making assumptions and decisions based on what I see. From the players’ side, if they want to [be] part of the future of the club, then they have to perform well,” said Howe.

The Toon are scheduled to travel down to the King Power Stadium on Sunday to face Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City, who enter the game sitting well adrift of the European spots which they will have been targetting before the campaign began.

With Howe making it abundantly clear that players will be made to earn their spot at the club and could face a January departure if he feels otherwise, fans shared their delight on Twitter at the 44-year-old’s menatlity.

What did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“Finally”

“It’s about time we had this kind of challenge for the players!”
“Clark 1st one out in jan then yesss”
“Such a contrast from the last chap.”
“Exactly! It’s time for the cream to rise to the top or pack your trash and hit the bricks.”
“Gayle, Ritchie, hendrick, Krafth, Clark should of be gone regardless. And send both Sean matty out on loan or sell both.”

Howe has had his own difficulties since arriving at Newcastle, spending his first game in charge from his home having been forced to self-isolate on the day of the game against Brentford.

However, last weekend saw the Magpies pick up their first win of their season and their fifth point under the new man in the St. James’ Park dugout, and it is apparent he has the Toon Army on his side.
