Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a tweet by journalist Craig Hope regarding injuries to two key players.

Coming off the back of their last game in the Premier League, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed that Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin had both suffered serious injuries, saying: “When Callum went down it looked a bad one because nobody was around him. He felt he’d been kicked but we didn’t see it. Allan, I don’t think is as serious but serious enough to bring him off.”

Given that Wilson and Saint-Maximin are the club’s two highest scorers this season, losing them for any significant amount of time was going to be devastating in their attempts to stay in the league.

However, according to Daily Mail reporter Hope on Twitter, the injuries don’t appear to be as bad as first thought, as he wrote: “Hearing slightly more positive news on NUFC injuries. Wilson could be a month to six weeks out (still dependent on recovery), while Saint-Maximin calf problem is not serious at all.”

This news sent Newcastle fans into raptures when they heard it – so happy were they that they could have two of their key players back sooner rather than later:

“Get in! Keep it on the down low though let’s get Southampton called off just for the crack and to listen to all the snow flakes cry some more”

“Superb”
“Brilliant news mate! Another pint in Rosie’s for you for this one if it comes good.”
“That’s a huge relief! Still massively important that we sign a deputy, who can fill in and share the burden.”
“Cans!”
“Wilson could only be out for a month not the two being reported and Maximin calf injury is only minor! Great news for us”
“This is great news!!!!”

For Newcastle’s sake, Hope had better be right, because they are going to need all the help that they can get if they are to stand a chance of staying in the division.
